Well It has been a while since our performance at Julius Meinl! We all had so much fun that evening. It was so nice to see such a full house on our first night back as Melange. Wow I love these guys!
Lately we've been considering what kind of program to do next! Maybe something a little more modern??? Shostakovitch, Glass? PS - suggestions are welcome!
At any rate we probably won't be back at Meinl until May or June. Alexa is currently busy preparing an exciting modern music program with Opus 21 (
http://www.opus21.org/) including a performance in New York City. Erica is off in Germany again doing many exciting things. Maybe I can get her to post something from there. Sharon is of course busy with her students this time of year and preparing for a well-deserved vacation to Bermuda. I hope she gets her passport in time!!! As for me, I am playing a lot out of town this and next month.

Alexa Muhly, cello, holds a B.M. from the Cleveland Institute of Music and an M.M. from the Yale School of Music. Her major teachers include David Soyer, Aldo Parisot, and Alan Harris. She currently teaches cello at Kalamazoo College and is an active orchestral and chamber musician in the Chicago area. In recent seasons, she was principal cellist of the Kalamazoo Symphony and also appeared with the Grand Rapids Symphony, Fontana Chamber Arts, and the Pine Mountain Music Festival. Ms. Muhly received early recognition as first-prize winner in the Iowa Center for the Arts competition as well as first place in the Jugend Musiziert national competition in Germany. Other honors include a long-term residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Calgary, Alberta and awards from the Cleveland Institute of Music, Yale University, and the Aspen Music Festival. Ms. Muhly has performed extensively in the United States, Canada, England, France, Germany, Hungary, and Lithuania.

Erica Dicker is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music where she studied with Marilyn McDonald. Following her time at Oberlin, Erica spent two years in Minneapolis, Minnesota as a student of Minnesota Orchestra concertmaster Jorja Fleezanis. After completing her studies in Minneapolis, Erica moved to Chicago were she was an chamber music collaborator and orchestral performer, serving as associate concertmaster in the Peoria Symphony as and associate principal second violin in the South Bend Symphony. Erica currently resides in Leverkusen, Germany where she is a Praktikantin (apprentice) to the Bergische Symphoniker, an orchestra based in the cities of Solingen and Remscheid.
