My O Meinl!

What no cello! It can't be done. Well when May proved too busy for our esteemed cellist Alexa Muhly we found a rich repetoire of music for "quartour sans basse".

Thats right folks come to Julius Meinl Cafe on May 22 at 8 pm for desserts, coffee (try the Melange) and Terzetti!. Terzetto is the term composers use for ensembles of 2 violins and 1 viola.

Erika, Sharon and I will be exploring the "terzetto" music of Dvorak, J.S. Bach, Beethoven (his beautiful trio originally for 2 oboes and English Horn), Robert Fuchs, and Zoltan Kodaly (pronounced Code-Eye or better Ko-Die).

On the road again!

So we are taking the show on the road again. This time Sharon, Jeremy and I are headed to the Southwest Michigan cultural hub of Kalamazoo. My home for much of the nineties and home to Bell's Brewery.

Keith Murphy, composer of "Bright Air, Brilliant Fire" has invited us to reprise our Millikin Concert at Kalamazoo College and thankfully we found a date and time that works for everyone. Small miracles!

June 3rd at 3 pm in the Light Fine Arts Recital Hall (#14 on map).

The program is:
Sculthorpe: Sonata for Viola and Percussion
David P. Jones: Legal Highs for Violin and Marimba
Martinu: 3 Madrigals for Violin and Viola
Keith Murphy: Bright Air, Brilliant Fire for Violin and Marimba

Central Illinois, Here We Come!

Hi Again!

Adam and I are heading down to Decatur, Illinois this next weekend to play a concert at Millikin University on Sunday, April 15, 6 pm. We will be playing a concert with the ever-wonderful Jeremy Brunk, who teaches at Millikin. The repertoire will include:

David P. Jones: Legal Highs for Violin and Marimba
Martinu: 3 Madrigals for Violin and Viola
Keith Murphy: Bright Air, Brilliant Fire for Violin and Marimba

Keith is Alexa's husband and his composition is incredible and Jeremy and Adam are really tearing it up!


On Monday the 16th, Adam and I will be doing a clinic/presentation for the Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony in Springfield. They are conducted by my good friend, Richard Haglund.

All in all, we are excited for our mini road trip/tour to Central Illinois!
